eka pada galavasana (flying pigeon) is a hip opener and an arm balance. It’s the crescendo of the standing series in the hip opening series above.
Lift your right foot up, flex your ankle
place the outside of your right ankle onto your left thigh
lean back, bend your left knee and reach to the back with your arms. You will feel the right side of your pelvis opening up
fold forward and put your hands on the ground
hook around your left upper arm with your right toes and lean your right kneecap onto your right upper arm, laying your right shin onto your arms.
Balance on your hands
Stretch your left leg back
To come out: put your left foot back on the ground, straighten your left leg, bowing to your knee on the way, then press into your left foot and rise all the way back to standing.
